Vermont Boating Education Requirements

All boat operators born on or after January 1, 1974 must complete a Vermont & NASBLA-approved boater safety course.
Other Vermont Boating Course Requirements
You must be at least 12 years old to take this online course. You must be a resident of Vermont to take the online course.

The Vermont Boating Safety Education Certification Card
The Vermont Boating Safety Education Certification Card (often referred to as "Vermont boating License" or "Vermont Boater Education Card") is proof that you have successfully completed all state-mandated boater education requirements.
Vessel operators who are required to have a Vermont Boating Safety Education Certification Card must carry their card on board the vessel and have it available for inspection by enforcement officers.

The Vermont Interactive Boat Safety Course is approved by the NASBLA. NASBLA is a national nonprofit organization that develops and maintains set standards for boating education in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
