You need boating education in Georgia if you were born on or after January 1, 1998 and will be operating a motorized vessel on Georgia waters.



Georgia Boating Education Requirements

All boat operators born after January 1, 1998 must have passed a boater safety course approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and carry proof of completion on board.
Other Georgia Boating Course Requirements
You'll need your GA DNR Customer ID Number to complete the course. Visit www.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com to locate your existing Customer ID Number or create a new one. Call 1-800-366-2661 (8AM–6PM Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM Saturday–Sunday) or visit a local license agent for more information.
There is no minimum age requirement to take this online course. You do not have to be a resident of Georgia to take this online course.

The Georgia Boater Education Card
The Georgia Boater Education Card (often referred to as "Georgia boating License" or "Georgia Boater Education Card") is proof that you have successfully completed all state-mandated boater education requirements.
Vessel operators who are required to have a Georgia Boater Education Card must carry their card on board the vessel and have it available for inspection by enforcement officers.

The Georgia Interactive Boat Safety Course is approved by the NASBLA. NASBLA is a national nonprofit organization that develops and maintains set standards for boating education in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
